Susanna Wesley has raised up her ten children with good virtues and discipline.Not only did she raise them with the fear of God, she also cultivated good habits and practices in them, which is to be appreciated.

The approach in which Susanna has brought up her children is surprising to many.

After getting up early in the morning, they had to tell the Lord's Prayer,a whole chapter in Psalms and also complete their prayer before breakfast. They have to read a chapter in the New Testament and a chapter in Psalms at night. Sunday service is a must and participation in the family prayer is compulsory. While studying they should have full concentration and should not leave the room unnecessarily. Permission was not given to leave the house other than holidays. Specific time was allotted for sleep, studies, food and rest.No snacks were allowed other than the three courses of meal.

It is important to have the food without criticizing.
They were not allowed to ask. "I need this or I need that."

They had to speak courteously at home, they could ask for things humbly and nothing could be achieved by crying. However big the mistake may be, they were forgiven if they spoke the truth. So speaking the truth became a habit for them. By bringing them up in this way, Susanna was able to give only two godly men John Wesley and Thomas Wesley to this world. Only a mother who is God fearing can bring up her children as God fearing people in this world, and make Gospel as the light to shine in this darkened world. If you are God fearing, surely you too can bring about a God fearing generation.
